Lecture: The Real Water Cure: Public Health in Edwardian Malvern by Tim Carter

The first part of this presentation is a detailed examination of the investigations into the typhoid at Dr Fergusson’s establishment and subsequent court cases based on Henry Hillyard’s (the sanitary inspector) scrapbooks. The second part is a look at the development of water and sewage systems in Malvern based on Ministry of Health and sanitary inspectors’ annual reports.
All Winter Lectures are held at Christchurch Hall in Avenue Road, Great Malvern, unless otherwise stated.
Lectures begin at 2.30 and admission is free to Friends of Malvern Museum or £3 for visitors.
Refreshments are served during the meeting for a small charge.
