Winter Lecture: Powick Lunatic Asylum by Ken Crump
24 April 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Powick Hospital opened its doors in 1852 as the Worcestershire City and County Pauper Lunatic Asylum. It finally closed in 1989 and its scant remains survive on land now occupied by a housing estate. Ken Crump is one of our members and draws from his personal experience of the hospital from when he worked there as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse from1963 until it closed. He has a wealth of knowledge about the extensive buildings and many people who were treated there.
All Winter Lectures are held at Christchurch Hall in Avenue Road, Great Malvern, unless otherwise stated.
Lectures begin at 7.30 and admission is free to Friends of Malvern Museum or £2 for visitors.
Refreshments are served at the end of the evening for a small charge.
