The King’s Thirds: a 17th century layer of the Malvern Chase landscape revealed by George Demidowicz
26 November @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The King in George Demidowicz’s talk is Charles I and the Thirds refer to the land around and on the Malvern Hills that was divided up into two thirds and one third in the early 1630s. The land that fell into the one third category belonged to the king who sold it to raise much needed royal income. Using ancient maps and the remains of banks and ditches on the hills, George will reveal what actually lies ‘on our doorstep’.
